Steve Kelly  |  The Topography of Virtual Worlds

24 May - 25 June 2017

Steve Kelly sees himself as a digital creative. His methods of working are the result of over 30 years’ experience as a Visual Arts and Photography teacher and 15 years as a Computing and Multimedia teacher. His stylistic approach is engendered by his interests in writing poetry and science fiction/fantasy, and in the symbolic representation of elements of his Christian faith and spirituality.

The works on exhibition have been created using a variety of 3D modelling and scene creation computer programs. Some of them also include photographs the artist has taken and used as backgrounds to scenes and/or surface materials for objects. The photographs are mostly from his home town of Ballina and its surrounds. As the name of the exhibition suggests the scenes depicted are created in a virtual 3D space on computer and then rendered (photographed with a virtual camera) to produce the final 2D image.

 Launch Event: Thursday 25 May  |  5.30pm - 7:30pm
