Design your own perfume in this exquisite workshop with ‘Scentsmith’, Ainslie Walker.
Participants will have access to and experience of a perfumer’s organ of approximately 100 raw materials. The practical class aims to expand their olfactory memory and spectrum. Participants will smell and learn about the raw materials and how they are used in perfumery, they will learn how to make a perfumer’s brief - an outline of what they would like to create. The history of perfume, fragrance industry, family groups, raw materials origin and method of extraction, naturals, isolates and synthetics and more will be covered. They will create a perfume of their own they can take away with them. The class will end with bubbles and platter of nibbles and a relaxed celebration of creating their first perfumes!
Ainslie Walker has a background in Naturopathy and Spa Development, spending 13 years in London working and developing spas and spa products. She is a perfumer/ scent designer and artist, studying in London, Grasse and Bangkok. She is well known in the fragrance industry for her designs and award winning fragrance writing. Her workshops are recommended by The Good Weekend and Broadsheet Sydney. She regularly teaches in The Strand Arcade, Sydney and tours to Melbourne and Perth. Ainslie’s olfactory art is currently showing in The Art Gallery of SA as part of Tamara Dean’s work for the Adelaide Biennial. She has also exhibited in installations at MONA in Tasmania and UNSW. She created Mud Australia’s Mud01 and Mud02 candles and scents, has created a brand scent for Aje which features in all their 12 boutiques, has created Sapphire The Scent alongside Courtesy of the Artist’s Rare Earth exhibition and Raconteur X with The Raconteur which is sold in Australia’s most exclusive perfumeries, Peony, Melbourne and Lore Perfumery, Melbourne and other boutiques.
