Sharon Steel is a local and talented printmaker from Ballina in Northern NSW.
Sharon's first love has always been a fascination with cultural design around the world. Stories represented in works that have used traditional forms of printing onto different surfaces have always captured her imagination. Printmaking has become a large part of Sharon's life for all the versatility and tradition that it offers.
Personal experiences, ancestral lineage, heritage, environmental surrounds in flora and fauna, all take form into my print work. Many hours of observation backed with sketches and photographs these ideas are then developed into new works using the traditional printmaking techniques in particular linoleum and woodcuts which allows my works to bring deeper meaning to life’s stories.
