“Process” is a short exhibition of paintings by Elaine Drysdale following her residency at Ignite Studios NRCG in May/June 2018. Elaine used her residency as time to experiment and play with different subject matter, material and processes as part of the artists journey. The work is united by an overarching theme of intuitive led process and experimentation as a way of knowing or uncovering new knowledge.

ARTIST STATEMENT - Elaine Drysdale 

AiR at Ignite Studios | 16 May - 26 June 2018

Elaine is a practising artist and art therapist with a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons), Post Graduate Diploma Art Therapy, studied painting at the Byron School of Art. Completed a Graduate Certificate in Visual Arts from Queensland College of Art in 2017 and is currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Visual Arts there.

Elaine’s work explores human consciousness and states of being. Nature, Philosophy and Theology are sources of inspiration. Her art practice seeks to tap into unconscious material and find ways to give voice to previously unarticulated experiences within a contemporary expanded painting practice.
