
Intro to the Wheel with Jacqui Sosnowski

This 4-day workshop series led by local ceramicist Jacqui Sosnowski of SOSCERAMICS is designed for those new to the wheel who wish to learn the basics of throwing clay, and how to work independently in a communal studio. Participants will be guided through the process of throwing basic cylinders like cups and mugs, and more open forms such as bowls. General safety processes will be covered, as well as an overview of tools, basic techniques, and how to work safely in a studio environment.
Materials, tools, and a bisque firing of selected work produced during the series are included. There are a maximum of six places are available.
Jacqui Sosnowski is an experienced educator and ceramicist, well known for her use of the unique firing technique Obvara. She has completed a Diploma in Ceramics and an Advanced Diploma in Visual Arts at Lismore TAFE and spends time in her Mullumbimby studio making and firing pots.
Following the completion of this workshop, participants will be eligible to apply for Ignite Ceramics studio membership, and book independent sessions on the wheel. You do not need to be an Ignite Ceramics member to attend this workshop.
Please bring:
- Close toed shoes
- An apron and/or clothes that can get messy.
- Water bottle.
- Lunch and snacks, or enjoy the Gallery Cafe next door.
