Join local artist Dave Sparkes for this weekend introduction to watercolour painting through the lens of land-and-seascapes. Across two days participants will receive an overview of fundamental watercolour techniques, learning the 4 basic washes; flat, graduated, variegated, and wet into wet; basic design and composition; colour mixing; the mysteries of paper dampness and timing; and will undertake a landscape or seascape painting exercise with Dave’s guidance and support. This workshop is suitable for beginners, or those already familiar with the form. All tools and materials provided.

Dave Sparkes is a full-time artist based in Byron Bay. His practice largely focuses on plein air watercolour landscapes and seascapes and is a hybrid of impressionism and realism. A published author, award winning photographer, and avid surfer, Dave is also known for his work for iconic surf magazines and other publications in Australia and internationally.

In case of cancellation, NRCG will only provide a refund if we can successfully offer your place to a participant on our waiting list. In this case, the workshop cost, less a booking fee of 5%, will be provided, once the replacement student has paid in full. This is at the full discretion of the NRCG team.
In the case of class cancellation by NRCG, a full refund will be provided to all participants.
